Staff Info

October 24th, 2007 by mrsbaxter

I hope that this podcast will be of use to you, both inside and outside of your lessons.  Please feel free to incorporate podcasting of work into your lessons (I can always arrange a “special” podcast for anything that you want) and I will be happy to discuss the technicalities of this for you.  In addition, if there is anything within school that you would like to publicise, then the podcast may be just the forum for you.  Perhaps you have a club that you run or you are involved in a school trip, play or . . . just about anything else.  Take this opportunity to record an audio (or even short video) broadcast which can be done either by you or your students.  In addition, it would be nice to feature different members of staff within the podcasts – perhaps you would like to be a guest presenter one week, or would be willing to be interviewed by a student about your subject, work or hobbies?  Please contact me on ext 246 or via podcast@driffield.eriding.net to arrange.

Mrs Baxter, ICT Department

THE TECHNOLOGY

If you are not sure what podcasting, blogging etc are all about, have a look at the video below by clicking where it says ‘TTV New Technology (Edited)’.  This is a shortened version (less than 7 minutes in total) of a Teacher’s TV programme (Professional Knowledge – English).  To comply with the copyright agreement, please note that you can view the full programme at http://www.teachers.tv/video/12117

RECORDING FOR THE PODCAST

You can use your mobile phone to record interviews etc, take pictures to go on the website and even take short videos.  Don’t worry about the file formats, simply download your files from your phone to your PC and then send them to us by email.

Please remember that when you record anything using your mobile phone that you must have the permission of the people involved.   When you send your files to the podcast you are agreeing that these may be published on the internet and the files then become the property of Driffield School (this is in order to comply with Copyright law).   Please make sure that you provide details of what the files contain plus the full names of any people that are featured.  Your audio file should be a MAXIMUM of three minutes long and video files a MAXIMUM of 30 seconds (unless you have previously made special arrangements).  We cannot provide any guarantee that we will use your files in the podcast but will do our best to include everything that is suitable.  It is likely that we may need to edit your original files to ensure that they are of the right quality and length.

 COMMENTING ON THE PODCAST

Staff are encouraged to leave (positive!) comments about each week’s podcasts on this website.  Simply click on the comment hyperlink under the podcast entry that you wish to make a comment on.  Your comment will not appear immediately (so DO NOT keep resending it!) as it will be screened by a teacher first.  It should appear on the site within 24-48 hours of you posting it.
